    2025 Youth Committee Elections

The election of Youth Committee officers were held at the Youth Committee meeting on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.  Elected were Jenée Peevy, Chair; Elizabeth Tate, Vice-Chair; Bob Vilven, Secretary; DeCola Mohammed, Treasurer.

    High School Starters Needed

The San Diego County Track Starters Association is the organization certified by the CIF to work high school track & field meets.  Every week during the Cross Country and T&F seasons, dozens of high school meets take place across the county, each staffed by a SDCTSA starter.

Working with SDCTSA is a great way to give back to the sport, to interact with exceptional coaches and remarkable high school student-athletes, and to watch great competition, all while getting paid.  Unfortunately, there are barely enough starters to cover all the meets, and the SDCTSA would welcome anyone with a passion for the sport to join the organization.

As per CIF guidelines, a candidate would need to attend online meetings and pass a written test to become eligible to work meets. There are annual dues, and a starter must acquire their own equipment.  New starters will be mentored by an experienced starter until they are comfortable working on their own.

    Youth Clubs

USATF membership is required to compete in preliminary or championship meets.  An athlete may compete as an individual (unattached) or as a member of a club.  Clubs are located throughout San Diego and Imperial counties.   For a list of local clubs and contact information, go to the Clubs page ("Find a Club" then filter on the San Diego-Imperial Association).  For a table of practice sites for local clubs, click here.

    Age Verification

Date-of-Birth verification documents must be uploaded through USATF Connect.  Acceptable documents include birth certificate, passport, certified baptismal record, driver's license, or U.S. government identification.  Please see the USATF Date of Birth Verification Policy for more information.  If you have trouble with the upload, please reach out to the USATF National Office.
