August 3, 10:00-12:00, Road Runner Sports
25 years ago, Paul Greer and Bob Babbitt decided to put together a series of the best cross country events in San Diego County, and thus was created what became the USATF San Diego Dirt Dogs Cross Country Series. When August rolls around this year and you start to think about setting some cool running goals, here’s our suggestion: get off-road, join the movement and give the Dirt Dogs Series a try! The BEST time to sign up for any and all of the races is the Dirt Dog XC Day on August 3rd at Road Runner Sports. You'll get discounts on entry fees for any and all races you'd like to do this season (the schedule of seven races can be found here) and you can pick up shoes an other gear you might need for the fall season while you're at it. Details on the signup event are here. Now, why would you want to sign up for ALL the races? So glad you asked! Our USATF Association leadership is excited to introduce the “Carl Brandt Iron Dog Award”, which honors individuals who participate in every event of the Dirt Dog XC series throughout the season. This award symbolizes endurance, resilience, dedication, and perseverance—qualities that Carl Brandt exemplifies as a prominent figure in the San Diego running community for over five decades. Carl Brandt, the founder and owner of Movin Shoes Running Store, has been a mentor and friend to many in our Running Community. To commemorate his contributions, the initials "CB" will be stitched onto the shirts of award recipients each year, ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire future generations of runners.
