Here's some additional info about our speaker for the event:
Toni Reavis is an Emmy award-winning broadcaster, writer, and commentator widely regarded as a pioneer in the field of distance running journalism. Often called the “voice of American running,” he has helped shape how the sport is presented on radio, television, and in print for over four decades.
Early Life and Background
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Reavis later became a long-time resident of Boston, where he immersed himself in the original running boom of the 1970s and 1980s.
He eventually settled in San Diego, California in 1999, where he lives with his wife, Toya.
Career Highlights
Reavis began his broadcasting career in Boston with Runners Digest, the first radio show devoted to the sport of running in America. It aired weekly from 1977 to 1988. He gained national prominence in the 1980s and 1990s as the host of ESPN’s Running & Racing and Road Race of the Month series, bringing his distinctive baritone voice and deep knowledge of the sport to audiences worldwide.
He has announced and covered major marathons and road races globally, including the Boston, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles Marathons. His style emphasizes inclusivity, covering both elite athletes and everyday participants.
As a writer, Reavis has contributed to publications such as Runner’s World, the Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Competitor, and Running Times. He was a columnist for the Boston Herald, Running Times, and New England Runner.

• Inducted into the Running USA Hall of Champions in 2009.
• Received the prestigious George Hirsch Journalism Award in 2022 from the New York Road Runners for excellence in running journalism.

He continues to broadcast select events and serves on the board of the Entoto Foundation, a nonprofit providing healthcare in Ethiopia.
In 2022, he authored the book Bisia & Isham: The Countess & the P.O.W., recounting his parents’ remarkable love story and survival during World War II in Poland.
