2021 SD-I Officer Nominations

Nominee for Association President:

     Paul Greer

Statement of Interest:
My name is Paul Greer and I am the current President for our Association and I would like to declare my interest in earning a second term to help lead our organization. I am running with three other colleagues for officer positions, Tina Breen for Vice President, Nancy Morris for Secretary and Hunter Daniel for Treasurer and I hope you consider voting for the four of us on election day. Over the past two years, our board of directors have worked to increase our association's visibility in the community through targeted programs such as hosting Association Track and Field Championships for Youth and Open along with our 12th year of the Summer Nights Track & Field Series was another great success. There was another successful Youth Track and Field series of events at Morse High School this past spring. Over the next two years, my main objectives will be to increase communication between the board of directors and our USATF San Diego membership and fill many of the vacant positions that are still needing to be filled. Our Association is in a position to grow and I look forward to engaging all of our members to help create our objectives and meet our goals. Furthermore, I would like to continue our efforts to capitalize on our visibility by bringing an "American Track League Meet" (ATL) to San Diego. The American Track League is a fairly new meet for professional track and field athletes and it would be great to see this meet take place in "America's Finest City" and gain National attention on television. Continued work is ongoing on gaining better track and field facility access to both high schools and colleges in the greater San Diego area.

Biography:
I grew up in San Diego where I graduated from Saint Augustine High School and competed for San Diego State University’s Track and Field program. Currently, I have the SDSU School Record in the 1500 meters at 3:42.44 and broke the 4 minute mile at 3:59.79. I competed at the 1992 US Olympic Trials in the 1500 meters. Currently, I am in my 36th year coaching the San Diego Track Club and I continue to serve the community as the series director for both the 21st USATF San Diego Dirt Dog Cross Country Series and the 12th USATF San Diego Summer Nights Track and Field Series. I am a Professor of Health and Exercise Science at San Diego City College and have a passion for getting involved in our San Diego Track and Field/Long Distance Running community. I look forward to working with all of you in the future ahead.
Nominee for Vice President

Statement of Interest:

I would like to express my interest in continuing on in the position of Vice President of the San Diego-Imperial USATF Board of Directors. I am currently the Vice President, Membership and Clubs Chair and will continue to perform my current duties in conjunction with those required of the Vice President. I feel that my continued involvement with our Association will help open new avenues of communication between the board and Association members to help create new goals and objectives for the upcoming year.

Biography:

My background is as a cardiac nurse since 1975 – in this regard I also provide guidance for medical aid with the program and serve as a nurse professional in multiple events.

My interest in running began over 40 years ago – when I relocated to San Diego from Colorado, I joined the San Diego Track Club and became involved with helping new runners to the group as well as the Rockin’ n’ Runnin’ program from its inception through year 10. As a mentor, my goals each year were to encourage new runners and provide guidance for injury-prevention and support through the challenge of running 26.2 miles.

Since 1998, I have served as a USATF official for multiple local competitions from high school to university and at the elite level. This year I successfully completed the National level exam and look to expand my official’s role. Also, beginning this year, I accepted the honor of Vice President San Diego Officials Association.
