The 2023 USATF San Diego-Imperial Association Championships will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2022, at San Diego State University Choc Sportsman Oval, Hardy Ave and 55th St, San Diego, CA 92182. This USATF-Sanctioned meet (Sanction Number 23-44-144819) will also serve as an All-Comers Meet for Youth (including High School), Paralympic, Open and Masters athletes, even if they are not USATF members. However, to win a San Diego-Imperial Association Championship medal, the athlete must be a member of the USATF San Diego-Imperial Association.
This year, the championships will include the 3000m Steeplechase and 5 kilometer Race Walk. Combined Events, Relays, 10 kilometer Run and Hammer Throw will not be competed at this meet.
Heats and flights will be seeded by the seed mark provided during registration, not by division or age group. Paralympic wheelchair events as well as seated throws will be offered. Paralympians will compete in the same sections as the able-bodied athletes seeded by time with wheelchair athletes in a separate heat. Seated throws will be competed separately.
Youth and Masters athletes may throw age-appropriate implements, but should inform the official of the different weight so it can be annotated correctly in the results.
Hurdle races will be competed at the Open (42-inch) and Boys High School (39-inch) hurdle spacing and race distance. All running and walking events will be timed finals with the exception of the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles, which will have prelims and finals.
For the horizontal jumping and throwing events, all athletes will be entitled to three preliminary attempts. The athletes with the top nine marks will be entitled to three additional final attempts. For both track and field events, the finals will be merged into a single final competition merging all divisions and age groups.
