Bob Larsen, longtime UCLA coach and co-founder of the Mammoth Lakes High Altitude Training Group that spurred the resurgence in American distance running in the early 2000’s, is the 2019 USATF Legend Coach, USATF announced Friday.
Katie Burnett set a new World Record for the rarely contested 50km Race Walk which took place Saturday night on the track at San Diego’s historic Balboa Stadium. Burnett, who owns the 50km (31.1 miles) American Record on the roads, also set four pending American records at 25km, 30km, 35km and 40km on route, finishing the 50km with an official time of 4:29:45.56.
Congrats to all those who completed the road series and also came to the Road Race Series celebration for all participants.
